Economic growth and diversification led to the demise of Hong Kong\u2019s cotton industry in the 1980s\u201390s. The cotton mills ceased operations in 2008 and the buildings were turned into warehouses.\u00a0In 2014, Nan Fung Group announced The Mills Revitalisation Project on its 60th anniversary.
